Geckos Climbing Club (recommended age 10+)
The Geckos climbing club is for young experienced climbers who have completed NICAS Level 3 and are ready to take a step into the world of advanced techniques and lead climbing!
Lead climbing is where the excitement is notched up a degree and takes a whole new set of skills to master. One of our instructors will be there to guide your child through it and ensure they are 100% safe at all times.
Skills your child will be learning whilst having fun in the Geckos' climbing club include;
- Lead climbing and lead belaying safely and efficiently.
- How to assess the risks of lead climbing.
- Rope and equipment care and maintenance.
- Effective climbing communication.
When your child begins the Geckos climbing club, they will already have their NICAS level 3 and will be ready to start
NICAS Levels 4 & 5. Geckos climbing clubs start every academic half term and run the length of a half academic term. Over multiple half term courses, your child will work towards completing NICAS levels 4 and 5 and achieving the Boulders climbing badges. NICAS levels 4 and 5 involve learning advanced climbing techniques and becoming a proficient climber. Only the best students will ever graduate from level 5, but along the way there are lots of Boulders climbing badges to collect, so there's always plenty of rewards and short term goals to work towards.
All of the kids climbing clubs follow the normal school academic calendar and start, at the start of every half term.

What's Next?
Once your child has completed their NICAS Level 4 and received their certificate, it is time to start thinking about joining the advanced climbers in The Project club! But before they move on, they will have to participate in the Geckos' Graduation Day (fees apply).
The Geckos' graduation day is designed to give your child an insight in to The Project club, where they will be taking part in a wide range of advanced climbing activities. The graduation day will help them to prepare for The Project and ensure they're ready to take the next step!
Boulders recommends young people do not progress onto The Project until they are aged 14-years of age, or older.
Brothers and sisters too young to join in the fun?!
Don't worry they can play in Pebbles...
Pebbles is Boulders' climbing adventure play area for children from pre-school to 7-years.
Under 7s participating in climbing lessons may play in Pebbles after their lesson.
The cost is £3:50 per child for unlimited play and it's free for an accompanying adult.
