Boulders' Cafe

We're very proud of our coffee here at boulders and thats partly due to the ongoing reminders we get from everyone who tries and telling us how how great it is. The other reason is...well, we just love coffee!

Here's a few facts about how those tasty little beans make it into your mug.

Did you know coffee beans actually come from cherries grown on trees in over 70 countries around the world and that the green unroasted bean extracted from the cherries is one of the most traded agricultural commodities in the world.

Interesting huh...!?

Here's how it all happens - our coffee is a blend of Fair-Trade and Organic beans extracted from cherries picked from 8 Central South American countries including Brazil, Columbia and Bolivia.

From here some seeds are washed ready to produce decaffeinated coffee which is done using a 100% chemical-free process known as the 'Swiss Water Method'. All beans are then imported to Rotterdam ready to be traded. After the beans have been selected they are imported to the UK where they are blended, degassed and roasted by hand ensuring the highest quality coffee extraction.

The finished product is then bagged in breathable packaging allowing nitrogen, naturally produced by coffee to escape and keep air out helping to maintain its distinctive freshness.

Typically, it takes less than 7 days for coffee to complete the journey from roasting to you mug. Now thats FRESH!

You can now buy boulders caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee ready-ground in 250g packs, just ask at the cafe next time you're in.
